A Brief Introduction (video)
A Brief Introduction (words)
Novo Studio is a Photography Company located in historic downtown Rogers Arkansas and serving Northwest Arkansas and abroad. The primary areas of focus are Commercial, Lifestyle/Editorial, Wedding and Engagement Photography. Typical clients are large and small businesses, ad agencies, publications and people who are madly in love with each other and want to celebrate it. Novo Studio is owned and operated by Philip Thomas. Philip started Novo Studio in 2006 after realizing that cubicle walls were not for him. He operated out of his house for 4 years before relocating the business a short distance away to downtown Rogers. Although the studio is located in the heart of a thriving historic district, Philip spends much of his time working on-location. Philip has experience in both Photography and Graphic Design and believes that knowledge and influence of both mediums contribute to the overall creative style of the company.
A Little Personal
Philip was born and raised in Tulsa Oklahoma but spent much of his childhood at the lake in Rogers Arkansas. He has an addiction to mountain biking, to good music, to old books and to old cameras. He lives within walking and cycling distance to his studio. When he isn’t working, Philip can be found on the local mountain bike trails, in the woods or on the shores of the local lakes or rivers, or on the couch curled up with a book. He also enjoys thunderstorms, local eats and drinks, fire pits, guitars, and exploring abandoned buildings...especially if they have “No Trespassing” signs. Philip currently lives in downtown Rogers with his wife Kristen, and his two children, Weston and Summer. They are twins.
About Commercial Photography :
Commercial work is always interesting and inspiring. It is a great honor and challenge to be tasked with visually communicating a product or business through photography. The best part (besides getting paid to be creative) is the opportunity to learn from clients, about their businesses, their passions and how their world works. Listed below are the types of commercial projects I am hired for:
- Lifestyle Photographs
- Editorial / Documentary Photographs
- Product Photographs
- Portrait Photographs
- Promotional Photographs
- Event Photographs
About Wedding Photography:
Documenting a wedding is an intensely personal endeavor. The bride and groom are not just hiring you to photograph the most important day of their lives. They are inviting you to participate in a uniquely joyous and intimate celebration of love, the beginning of a lifelong journey together. They are trusting you to feel and to creatively document the emotions, the events and the details of their wedding day. Wedding photographs are one of the few things that will help a couple relive their day for years and years to come.
I take a decidedly personal interest in my wedding clients. I never photograph a wedding where I have not met the couple in person and spent some time with them. I believe that a good chemistry and comfort level between the client and the photographer is essential to a couple enjoying their time in front of the camera. Since I do actively work in the commercial photography world, I schedule a limited number of weddings per year. This allows me to stay fresh and creative for my clients, it allows me some ample free weekends with my family and it enables me to deliver wedding photos and albums in a very timely manner.
About Portrait Photography:
While my main focus is on Commercial and Wedding Photography, I do photograph a limited number of portrait sessions per year. These include Senior Photographs and Family Photographs. For inquiries or to learn more, please contact me through the website.
About Graphic Design:
My background and experience in Graphic Design has heavily influenced the photography side of my business. And although a large portion of my business is photography related, Graphic Design continues to be an area that I am excited and inspired to work in. I am frequently tasked with creating visual communication pieces for small and large businesses or organizations. And when I can combine photography skills with my design projects, I can offer even more well-rounded solutions to my clients and customers. Graphic Design services include but are not limited to:
• Logo / Branding Design
• Stationery Design (business cards, envelopes)
• Print Collateral Design (pamphlets, flyers, brochures, posters, etc)
• Website Design (Basic)
• Copy Writing / Content Creation (on a limited basis)
