Greetings and Happy Holidays from us here at Novo Studio. Now that the holiday season is upon us, we thought it would be a good idea to get around to updating our blog and social media with some recent work. Every year, it seems that the end of summer snowballs into fall. Work picks up, schedules become difficult and our capacity to continually update things stretches thin. But finally, here we are and my oh my, what year it has been.

For many of us, this year was largely defined by the severe weather of Memorial Day Weekend which resulted in multiple tornados and caused area-wide devastation. Many of our friends, clients and neighbors are STILL dealing with the impact from that weather and that is very sad and unfortunate. On a more positive note, we had a lot of fun with our work this year. In spite of some wild work scenarios and crazy deadlines, this year was so much fun and such a good learning experience.

Thank you to everyone for the support, the encouragement, and the opportunity to continue to do what we love.

It is now November and the last time we updated the blog was after weeks and weeks of busyness and travel. It’s safe to say that aside from constant travel, things haven’t changed much. And for the most part, we’re not complaining. In fact recently, we had a first for the studio…live music. And that was so fun, we’ll be doing it again. But consistent photoshoots and video shoots followed by editing and managing those aforementioned shoots does create difficulties in keeping up with the normal, everyday tasks of managing and marketing a business. But today, we’re making time and space to share some images from the recent weeks. We sincerely hope that everyone is able to make some space to enjoy the cooler temperatures, the changing leaves, and life in general.

Beloved by many and known all over the country, Ozark Beer Company is somewhat of an institution in the craft beer world. From their humble beginnings in a nondescript warehouse on 1st street, to their current location in the heart of Downtown Rogers, Ozark Beer has been turning out some of the state’s (and the nation’s) most interesting and most delicious beer. They are known for their famous bourbon aged stouts, their ability to collaborate with local businesses and institutions to produce specialty beers based on everything from locally grown and available produce to art installations and music festivals. Their taproom was a busy gathering place for regulars, Downtown Rogers Farmer’s Market goers, weekend shoppers, cyclists from Lake Atalanta and curious out-of-towners who were undoubtedly directed there by some article they read in a publication.

Recently affected by the Covid 19 Pandemic, they like many others, have been forced to shut down their tap room and scale back their staff. But they are still hard at work, producing their beer for store distribution and for drive thru pickup at their facility. Next time you’re forced to go the store, please consider supporting them, either by looking for their products on the store shelves or picking up some 6 packs at the brewery.

Here’s a blast from the past…some not-so-recent work for the Fayetteville Public Library. This blog post was sitting in the queue as a draft and somehow, we never posted it. But today’s the day! Enjoy.

Congratulations to the City of Fayetteville and the Fayetteville Public Library on their recent ground breaking ceremony for their library expansion. Over the course of the last year or so, we have worked together with Doxa and the Fayetteville Public Library to create content for this wonderful expansion project. And the ground breaking ceremony was the official kickoff to the beginning of the construction. For more information on the project, please visit the official Beyond Words site.

The Fayetteville Public Library recently kicked off its future expansion project by honoring the existing structure on the property. With plans to expand the library onto the property, the building which for many years was the city's hospital, had to go. But not before it was celebrated and remembered for what it was to so many people for so many years. Of course this sort of event also means that we all had the opportunity to watch some big heavy machinery in action. Way to go Fayetteville, your library is definitely a prime example of what other libraries should aspire to become. 

It's always a pleasure to work with the fine folks at the Fayetteville Public Library. Spending the day watching people and photographing them as they use the library in so many different ways is a great reminder of how blessed we are to have so many great resources and programs in our little region. Even if you are not a resident of Fayetteville, the library is well worth the drive there especially if you have kids. For more information, visit their website. 

Today on the blog, I'm excited to be sharing images from this year's commercial photography projects. I have developed a strong love for telling stories of products, people, environments and companies through imagery and over the years, I've had the privilege of working on some very interesting projects. 2015 was certainly no exception. Many many thanks to the clients who made these images possible.

For the past few weeks, we have had the continued honor and privilege of working with the Fayetteville Public Library to create images for their 2015 marketing materials. The library continues to be one of the most state-of-the-art facilities in the state, providing access to resources, information, entertainment, culture and space. Life happens around tables. Everyday, people gather around tables for meetings, meals, drinks, games and a number of other reasons. And for whatever reason, tables are always conducive to conversation. Some conversations around tables are about business. Some are about memories, both good and bad. And some may even be about life and death.  Earlier this week, we had the opportunity to create some images of different tables for a new branding campaign. At the moment, it hasn't officially been launched yet but we can tell you that it will be called "The Table". Our job was to create images of the different types of tables people gather around. The funny thing about this job was the diversity that we found in the tables themselves. You can almost imagine the types of people that gather around them and the stories that are told. It is quite possible that you knew exactly which library we were referring to in the title of this post. The Fayetteville Public Library is one of our favorite places on earth. Not only is it a great environment to create images but it's an amazing place to gather resources, to learn, to explore and to just sit and work. The fact that they have an amazing coffee shop inside only adds to this appeal. We've been photographing the library for years now and each time we go back, we're reminded of the impact it has had on the area. Here's a few images from this year's visit. Enjoy.
