One of our favorite things about this line of work are the jobs that seemingly come out of nowhere. Case in point: Jacksonville Florida. Although we’re sworn to secrecy about what we actually worked on there ( Best Paste, Apollo Scrubs, Asmbly Agency), we did take our trusty little travel cameras with us with the intent of somewhat documenting our adventure. And document, we did. So today, we’re sharing a few of our favorite travel images. Enjoy.

I hung out with Troy and Marian all day and I honestly loved every minute I spent with them. They are thoughtful, genuine and madly in love with each other. Plus, they do some pretty awesome serious faces. (See above photograph for example). Thanks for allowing me to photograph your celebration you two, it was an honor. It's been a busy start to the year, much busier than this time last year. This time last year, I couldn’t have handled it. Professionally and personally, I was drained. So drained in fact, that I started 2017 by taking a sort of sabbatical. Owning AND operating a business is hard. And this whole balancing life and work thing is a learning process that is ongoing and ever-changing. In this season of life, I have been lax in my blogging endeavors. I hope to remedy that in the coming weeks, as I’ve got some fun things to say and some cool work to share. In the meantime, I thought I would share a very quick update on where I'm at a year later and how taking a sabbatical has changed my work life. 

Say hello to Stephen and Tristen. To celebrate their engagement, we traveled to one of their (and my) favorite places on earth, The Buffalo River Valley. There, we explored a less-than-stable house, hiked the Lost Valley hiking trail and took a dip in the Buffalo River. (they did, I watched from the shore). Enjoy the photos.

As many of you know, we are currently living a life-in-limbo. For the past few weeks, we have called Fort Smith Arkansas and the Mercy Hospital here, home. We've slept on hospital cots, hospital beds, a few different hotel beds and finally, a more permanent (and comfortable) bed at the Candlewood Suites. Our hotel is about a 2 minute drive from the hospital where our kiddos are currently living. We have settled into a bit of a daily routine and today by way of images, we thought it appropriate to walk you through a typical day and also, give you an update. Off we go. 

Say hello to the Thomas Twins. Pictured up top is Summer Joy Thomas and below, Weston Michael Thomas. We are so grateful for these two and for their (somewhat) smooth arrival into the world. The events leading up to their arrival however, have been less than smooth and at times, downright crazy. It's been a very stressful couple of weeks away from home but early Wednesday morning, the twins decided that it was time to enter the world and that was that. 

Having spent a little over a week figuring how to do life in limbo and wondering if the kids were going to be born while I was away, I was anxious to...

Last April, I posted a quick review of sorts on my new Fuji X100s. Since then, I've been using it religiously for everything from paid work, to documenting my daily life. I take it on hikes or bike rides or quick trips to the backyard so that my bulldog can empty his bladder. When I'm not using it, it sits on my desk because it's a great looking camera and I love looking at it. It's a great travel camera, too. I barely pulled out my DSLR while in Europe this past summer. And on flights, it looks old enough to not be considered "a portable electronic device", rendering it usable for photographing takeoffs and landings out the window. In Africa, it performed just as my X100 had performed the year before, but without the quirks of the menu or aperture settings freezing up. And wherever I go with it, I always get the same reaction; "Oh sweet, you're shooting film!" Of course when they find out it's digital, they just assume that it's a good looking camera, a novelty design with an ordinary inside. Boy are they wrong. After many months of travel and use, I'm finally sitting down to give a bit of a summary as to why I fancy this little camera so much. Ive split my review into two categories, one for photographers and one for consumers interested in a good camera. I've also posted a number of images that I've captured over the course of my time with X100s. If you have any questions or comments, they are always welcome.

A few years ago on April Fools Day, I went to our local camera store and had someone snap a photo of me holding a new Canon 5DMII. As an avid Nikon shooter, this little shenanigan got me some attention (and some offers to buy my Nikon gear). The joke lasted approximately 6 hours and at the end of it, I had to tell people that I was kidding. Now, I really am switching to Canon and here's why.

​Less than a week ago, this new little camera arrived straight from Hong Kong. I have yet to REALLY put it through it's paces and do a full review but initial usage shows that the "S" in the new Fuji X100s could stand for sexy, speedy or ssssssso ssssfreaking sssssawesome.
