Last weekend, our beloved Northwest Arkansas area was hit hard by a series of Tornados. Everyone's personal story with this event is different. But the beauty of a disaster situation is that it creates opportunities for help to be given and received, community to be experienced and lives to be changed for the better, even if it seems like it's temporarily for the worse. That's my 2 cents, anyway. The brutal truth though, is that we all got hit REALLY hard and personally, that's something that is dawning on me more and more everyday.

Say hello to Mavis Wine Company, a brand new and already-popular business in Downtown Rogers. Owners Jeffery and Meghan opened up the small wine shop / bodega / eating establishment recently, after moving from Los Angeles. Coming from the film industry, the two decided they needed new experiences and a somewhat slower pace of life.

We recently interviewed them for a Go Downtown Rogers social media feature and we are also sharing the photos, along with the interview here on the blog. It’s a good read and their space photographs extremely well. But if you don’t make a trip down here to try their delicious food and wine in person, you will TRULY be missing out.

Rogers is our home and it has been for some time. Every year, the annual Frisco Festival brings hundreds of people to our beloved downtown and this year was no different. But things are changing for the better and for the second year in a row, Visit Rogers has added to the Frisco Festival experience by providing unique experiences and events to showcase some of the people and products that make our town unique. And as always, we loved the chance to walk around photograph it all. Cheers.

Lake Atalanta is special to me because I live and work in such close proximity to the park, that I am there almost everyday, either running or riding my bike on the trails. I recently had the opportunity to create some abstract imagery of the area for a proposed art installation and I had a blast doing it. Here’s a few of my favorites. Enjoy.

When an awesome bank and its awesome marketing agency hire you to photograph landscapes and community imagery for marketing purposes, you make the most of it and have fun in the process. For me, that meant road tripping, truck camping, exploring small towns and taking some time to sit by the water and watch sunrises and sunsets. Thanks to The Twiggs Group & Grand Savings Bank for sending me on this work trip that didn't feel like a work trip at all. 

The historic downtown areas of Northwest Arkansas are alive with revitalization and growth. And thanks to the wonderful people at Highstreet Development and Stronghold NWA, a rather large building in downtown Rogers is poised to be a huge part of that process. Formerly known as "The Dollar Saver Building, the large structure is in the process of being gutted, cleaned out and outfitted for a number of retail and living spaces. A large portion of the building is slated to be the new home of Onyx Coffee's production and day-to-day operations while also housing a coffee shop. There are also rumors of an upscale restaurant, a bakery, a craft cocktail bar and loft apartments being planned for the structure. I was hired by Highstreet Development to photograph the building in its current state. Enjoy the tour. 

It's a big day for Visit Rogers. After months of hard work, they officially launched their brand new website today. I've been a longtime Rogers resident and I was excited to be a part of the process, creating imagery of life in and around Rogers. Here's a few images from the project. Enjoy!

I must confess, with a fair amount of embarrassment, that visiting, photographing and writing about this wonderful next door neighbor of mine has been on my to-do list for quite sometime. Sure, we see each other in the comings and goings of everyday downtown life. When my kids were born, Myra (one of the owners) showed up at my studio with some gifts. And there happens to be a sign on my door that instructs personnel to deliver my packages next door when I am not present to accept and sign for them. To that end, you could say that I visit the bookshop next door quite a bit. But I’ve made a bad habit of never stopping long enough slow down, take it all in and enjoy the cozy atmosphere and the wide selection of books at my almost-immediate disposal. And that is a shame, because I love books.

I love Fall for a great many reasons. One of the biggest is that I can shoot a wedding without sweating through my shirt. Another really big one is that I inevitably get to create senior portraits this time of year. The mixture of turning colors, more tolerable weather and the opportunity to work with creative clients is a welcome mix of busyness. I have officially been contracted by the Rogers Lowell Chamber of Commerce and Visit Rogers to create an updated library of imagery for the city of Rogers. This project will be a year-long endeavor and will consist of imagery from local events, amenities, architecture, businesses, restaurants and lifestyle.

There's a lot of great ways to start out the year but getting married is quite possibly one of the best. For these two childhood friends/sweethearts, it was a joyous celebration and a new beginning in their well-established relationship. Their celebration was shared by friends and family at the Victory Theater in historic downtown Rogers and it was a wonderful way to start the new year. Since 1972, they've been helping people experience the joy and the adventure of cycling. They started out in Fayetteville and in 2013, opened their second location in Rogers. I was hired to produce an updated website for them and of course, that meant spending some time photographing their locations as well.
