In this edition of “busy season craziness but here’s a recent work update”, we’ve got everything from farms, to pool parties, to cocktails, high-powered spray washers, hotel grand openings, moody portraits and even a possible Alexander Calder sculpture (verification pending). I’m sure we’ll do all this again in September. In the meantime, stay healthy, stay cool and stay awesome.

For many people (myself included), the idea of practicing Yoga can be intimidating and overwhelming. There are so many different types of Yoga, different poses, areas of focus, and reasons for even considering it and committing to it. Yoga is one of the few exercises that seems to bridge the gap between exercise, spirituality and self-awareness. And there's lots of options for Yoga teachers and studios in our area. So if you're interested in Yoga purely for the fitness aspect, make sure you focus your search accordingly. But if you are interested in Yoga because you are interested in discovering more about and connecting with your inner self, Meg Ryan Yoga is a great option.

As you may have guessed, Meg Ryan is not the same Meg Ryan you remember from movies such as Sleepless in Seattle and You've got Mail. She is also not your typical Yoga teacher. While her credentials read like equal parts professional yoga instructor and spiritual mystic, her practical, lighthearted personality will make your Yoga experiences valuable, enjoyable and most importantly, meaningful. Meg recently rebranded, launched a new website. Here's a few favorite images from the shoot.

Greetings and Happy Holidays from us here at Novo Studio. Now that the holiday season is upon us, we thought it would be a good idea to get around to updating our blog and social media with some recent work. Every year, it seems that the end of summer snowballs into fall. Work picks up, schedules become difficult and our capacity to continually update things stretches thin. But finally, here we are and my oh my, what year it has been.

For many of us, this year was largely defined by the severe weather of Memorial Day Weekend which resulted in multiple tornados and caused area-wide devastation. Many of our friends, clients and neighbors are STILL dealing with the impact from that weather and that is very sad and unfortunate. On a more positive note, we had a lot of fun with our work this year. In spite of some wild work scenarios and crazy deadlines, this year was so much fun and such a good learning experience.

Thank you to everyone for the support, the encouragement, and the opportunity to continue to do what we love.

It is now November and the last time we updated the blog was after weeks and weeks of busyness and travel. It’s safe to say that aside from constant travel, things haven’t changed much. And for the most part, we’re not complaining. In fact recently, we had a first for the studio…live music. And that was so fun, we’ll be doing it again. But consistent photoshoots and video shoots followed by editing and managing those aforementioned shoots does create difficulties in keeping up with the normal, everyday tasks of managing and marketing a business. But today, we’re making time and space to share some images from the recent weeks. We sincerely hope that everyone is able to make some space to enjoy the cooler temperatures, the changing leaves, and life in general.

Today on the blog: A compilation of recent commercial headshots and professional portraits of some of the best people in our little corner of the state. Our headshot and portrait clients range from people featured in magazine articles, to real estate agents, to college professors, food and beverage workers, healthcare professionals, and even (as you’ll see below), professional cyclists. On average, 75 to 80 percent of the people we work with say “I hate having my picture taken.” And that’s ok, because we hate having our pictures taken too. No seriously, we do. But having that connection makes us empathetic towards the people we work with and we try to make the whole process as quick, as painless and as easy going as we can make it. It’s always intriguing to meet new people and learn more about their line of work during the process of creating their portraits. And as you can see from the photos, we tend to have a bit of fun too. Today on the blog, we sharing some recent portrait work. Portrait photography for us ranges from our typical commercial clients, to high school seniors and families (especially in the fall months). Today’s blog post is made up of University of Arkansas School of Art Faculty members, insurance brokers, lawyers, families, high school seniors, individuals featured in AY Magazine, investment firm associates, a couple celebrating their 25 year wedding anniversary and new associates for Marlon Blackwell Architects. Although most of the stuff we share through our social media channels is commercial work, we feel it is important to note that with regards to portrait photography, we love to work with families, high school seniors and other individuals as well.

Back in August we got to do a few headshots for the Northwest Arkansas Young Professionals Summit. The Summit, in it’s 4th year, provides young (and old) professionals with personal, philanthropic and professional tools so they can learn to better serve their community. Here I met Dr. Todd Jenkins or Bowtie Todd. He is the Chair of the NWA Young Professionals Summit and founder and CEO of Bowtie Leadership. Bowtie Todd needed a new headshot and some additional content so during one of the summits break-out sessions we moved some lights around and threw a few bowties.
