We recently had the opportunity to hang out with the fine folks from the Bentonville Water Utilities Department, thanks to a chance meeting with one of the higher-ups at a recent Vanarky in the Ozarks Event. Before long, we had a plan to meet for a day of photography + water utilities education. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again every time it’s relevant; One of the best parts of this job is learning about other people’s line of work. And for a major city’s water utilities department, there’s a lot to experience. And after a full day of photographing different scenarios, tools and departments, we came away with a library of images that clearly and thoroughly showcases many of the water utilities day-to-day responsibilities in visual form. Today on the blog: Recent work for Sand Goons USA, a lifestyle brand aimed at people who love sand sports. Sand Goons USA is the brain child of Nate Allen, an avid lover and participant in sand sports. And in case you can’t tell from the pictures, sand sports consists of driving things (usually dirt bikes, 4 wheelers and ATVS) really fast through desert sands. This photoshoot was another classic example of why commercial photography continues to be a favorite; Not only were we able to create some super fun content, but we were able to learn about and experience another sport and its surrounding culture.

Raising a family in Arkansas has its outdoorsy perks. And the upcoming issue of Arkansas Wild Magazine highlights some of the ways families can embrace the great outdoors in our beautiful state. I recently met up with the publisher for Arkansas Wild, Brooke Wallace and her husband Thomas at their family cabin outside of Jasper to hang out and create some images for the feature. Thomas and Brooke love the outdoors and they make it a way of life to share that love with their two kids. With the fall weather approaching, this is the perfect time to get inspired to have more outdoor time with the ones you love. Happy Monday.

The craziness of the times we’re living in has definitely taken its toll on us all. But in the interest of finding silver linings, I would like to point out that this craziness has sure driven people to spend more time outdoors. And (from 6 feet apart), that’s a very good thing. I imagine people are discovering or rediscovering how beautiful our state actually is. Today on the blog: Recent work for Arkansas Wild Magazine and to date, a favorite photoshoot of all-time. When you get the opportunity to photograph someone going through Gaston’s Fly Fishing School while also going through the same fly fishing school yourself, it’s a win-win.
