This month’s issue featured an article on Scott Baker of Tusk and Trotter. Congratulations to the City of Fayetteville and the Fayetteville Public Library on their recent ground breaking ceremony for their library expansion. Over the course of the last year or so, we have worked together with Doxa and the Fayetteville Public Library to create content for this wonderful expansion project. This year, I participated in the Kessler Trail Run. And by participated, I mean that I ran 6 miles on the trail and then, photographed the after party while sipping beer and conversing with familiar and unfamiliar faces. You know. “Work”. Good times, indeed.

I recently had the opportunity to visit with and photograph artist Linda Lopez for an upcoming issue of Arkansas Made Magazine. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…I am always inspired when I have the opportunity to watch and learn from artists working in other mediums. And I don’t think this revelation is limited to just artists, either. It never ceases to amaze me the local talent I discover as a working photographer. One of my recent photo shoots for Arkansas Made Magazine led me to Springdale, Arkansas where Shirepost Mint has been making custom fantasy coins since 2001. I had a blast touring their facility, hearing the story of how their business started and how it grew to receive national and worldwide attention. The stoke was gnar and the shred was high and the sendys were amped with more stoke and gnar and everyone was braaaaaaaap’n wet but excited to be watching the Red Bull Pumptrack World Championships at the new Runway Bike Park in Springdale, Arkansas. Here’s a few photos from the event. Enjoy.

Fayetteville Arkansas knows how to throw a good party. (And not just of the college variety) Case in point, their First Thursday events that happen every first Thursday of the month during the warmer seasons in Arkansas. Their last one for the year was last week and I had the opportunity to attend it and photograph it. They also debuted their new Veoride Bike Share Program, making the city even more bike-friendly (which I didn’t think was possible). Party on, Fayetteville.

Lake Atalanta is special to me because I live and work in such close proximity to the park, that I am there almost everyday, either running or riding my bike on the trails. The Fayetteville Public Library recently kicked off its future expansion project by honoring the existing structure on the property. With plans to expand the library onto the property, the building which for many years was the city's hospital, had to go. But not before it was celebrated and remembered for what it was to so many people for so many years. Of course this sort of event also means that we all had the opportunity to watch some big heavy machinery in action. Way to go Fayetteville, your library is definitely a prime example of what other libraries should aspire to become.
