Open Streets - Fayetteville: The first in a series of events that offer communities the opportunity to experience their city streets in a whole new way.

Change is inevitable. Sometimes, it’s quick and abrupt. And other times, you start to feel the slow pull and growing tension of the current circumstances and you start wondering what to do about it. The latter has been my experience over the last couple of years…

We’ve been working in conjunction with Celi Birke Creative to create some photo and video content for The University of Arkansas’s McMillon Innovation Studio. “The McMillon Innovation Studio is a physical hub of innovation supporting creativity, entrepreneurship, and collaboration between all disciplines on the University of Arkansas campus.” To learn more, visit the official website here.

Congratulations to the City of Fayetteville and the Fayetteville Public Library on their recent ground breaking ceremony for their library expansion. Over the course of the last year or so, we have worked together with Doxa and the Fayetteville Public Library to create content for this wonderful expansion project. And the ground breaking ceremony was the official kickoff to the beginning of the construction. For more information on the project, please visit the official Beyond Words site.

Fayetteville Arkansas knows how to throw a good party. (And not just of the college variety) Case in point, their First Thursday events that happen every first Thursday of the month during the warmer seasons in Arkansas. Their last one for the year was last week and I had the opportunity to attend it and photograph it. They also debuted their new Veoride Bike Share Program, making the city even more bike-friendly (which I didn’t think was possible). Party on, Fayetteville.

The Fayetteville Public Library recently kicked off its future expansion project by honoring the existing structure on the property. With plans to expand the library onto the property, the building which for many years was the city's hospital, had to go. But not before it was celebrated and remembered for what it was to so many people for so many years. Of course this sort of event also means that we all had the opportunity to watch some big heavy machinery in action. Way to go Fayetteville, your library is definitely a prime example of what other libraries should aspire to become. 

I had the privilege of photographing the annual Art of Wine Festival this year. The event is put on by the good folks at the Walton Arts Center and features products from local, regional and national companies and establishments. Here's a few images from the event. Enjoy.

Another blog post from the unpublished drafts section of the blog: These images were created at an event held last December by the University of Arkansas Art Department in collaboration with Arsega's at the Depot. All of the design elements (including menus, place settings, bowls, plates and glasses) were created by university students and the menu was prepared by Chef Patrick Lane, Head Chef at the restaurant. The event was a fundraiser for the Art Department and it was a huge success. 

There's a new Farmers Market in town...downtown, that is. A new and improved Rogers Farmers Market is now open in on Saturday mornings in Downtown Rogers. The market, which opened last weekend is held in a newly renovated indoor/outdoor space complete with a full kitchen, public restrooms, food trucks and green space. Last weekend, I had the opportunity to photograph the Annual Rogers Cycling Festival. Had I been in better shape, I probably would've...

It's common knowledge among anyone that knows me well, that the opportunity to photograph anything bike related would be considered a dream job. And a couple weeks ago, I had the opportunity to spend a couple of days doing just that.

A couple weeks ago, I had the honor and privilege of spending the evening with the good people of Help One Now. Help One Now is an organization dedicated to caring for orphans and vulnerable children. They accomplish this by empowering and resourcing high-capacity local leaders in order to transform communities and break the cycle of extreme poverty. Although the organization is based elsewhere in the United States, Help One Now has a large number of supporters and board members here in Northwest Arkansas. It's always awe-inspiring to spend time with people who are so passionate about loving and caring for the lost and forgotten people of this world and this organization does that SO well. For the last few years, I've had the privilege of attending and photographing the annual Mercy Charity Ball. This year, the event was especially unique in that I was able to personally identify with the cause having recently spent quite a bit of time in St. Edwards Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith. As usual, the evening was filled with food, fun and great projects to donate money towards. Here's a few of my favorite images from the evening. Enjoy. 

Recently, a few area churches joined together to host a community-wide worship experience. The event, named "The Well", was launched a few years ago as a quarterly event at Fellowship Bible Church and most recently, was transitioned into a collaboration of area churches and church leaders. We were asked to document the evening, which was made up of live music, selected poetry readings, prayer and communion. Here are a few of our favorite images. Enjoy. 

It's no secret that we are a bike-friendly business. Cycling is not only a huge part of our lives here at the studio, but it is also a huge part of our community. The regional area of Northwest Arkansas is in the process of being connected with trails allowing for ease of bicycle commuting and in our little downtown area, a very well-known trail design company has been hard at work developing Lake Atalanta and building some killer mountain biking trails. Living in such close proximity to the studio, I frequently ride my bike to work and in the middle of the day when I need a breath of fresh air, I'll ride around our downtown area or home for lunch. Being a bike-friendly business and a supporter of local events also means that we are happy to volunteer our time, especially when it involves people and bicycles. This past weekend, the 30th annual Frisco Festival held two cycling events and we were around to photograph them both. Here's a few of our favorite images. Enjoy. 

We were recently hired to document the 50th Anniversary Celebration for the architecture/engineering firm Crafton Tull. With offices and locations all over the region, this company has earned itself a longstanding reputation for quality and excellence. During the night, I witnessed longtime leaders and newer employees alike chatting, laughing, welcoming friends and colleagues and celebrating the anniversary together.
