It's been a few weeks since we've had the opportunity to collaborate with Red Barn Studio Live Sessions. But recently, we were able to remedy that and hang out with the usual gang (Murray Williams, Brian Fittin, Michael Drager and Jason Miller). And as usual, we were all treated to an earful of awesomeness thanks to Stephen Neeper & The Wild Hearts. Here's a few behind-the-scenes images along with the final music video. Enjoy!

Our collaborations with Red Barn Studio, Murdog Creative and 6th & Burnside continue. This week, we had the privilege of hanging out with local indy band, Brother Moses. This was our first full band live session so all had to wear earplugs. Here's some behind-the-scenes images as well as the final video. I once again had the opportunity to collaborate with local talent to create a music video for local artist and celebrity, Benjamin Del Shreve. Benjamin (who usually plays with a full band), brought technology (aka a BOSS RC-300 loop station for all you gear nerds out there), choosing to loop several instruments and vocal patterns on top of each other and then, sing along. The result was incredible and we're excited to share it with you. Once again, thanks to Jason Miller at Red Barn Studio for recording, Murray Williams of Murdog Creative for organizing, directing and producing, the video, to Bryan Fittin of 6th & Burnside for being an all-around great personality to spend the evening with and to Benjamin Del Shreve, for rocking our lenses and our faces off. ** Note ** Red Barn Studio Live Sessions is a collaborative effort to promote new and existing local music talent. It is also an opportunity for creatives to have a "jam session" of their own and to contribute to a fun project. I recently had the opportunity to participate in a multi-camera video shoot for music artist Chanika McLelland. We all gathered at Red Barn Studio, setup multiple angles and recorded while Chanika recorded a beautiful rendition of Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide". Owner and producer Jason Miller captured some of the best sounding audio I've heard come out of a local studio and Murray Williams (Murdog Creative) produced an amazing video compiling all of the footage captured. It was a lot of fun working alongside these guys as well as Michael Drager, Bryan Fittin and Murray's son, Wyatt. She's a singer/songwriter and she's pretty darn good at both of those. She's about to graduate from Belmont University and head out into the world of singing, writing and performing. And she's also wrapping up her debut album, which she describes as indy/country/folk. Her name is Palmer Lee and she's from right here in Rogers, Arkansas. You may have seen her on the blog before, performing live or posing with her duo counterpart. This time, the images are all her. Here's a few of my favorites. Enjoy. 

Recently, a few area churches joined together to host a community-wide worship experience. The event, named "The Well", was launched a few years ago as a quarterly event at Fellowship Bible Church and most recently, was transitioned into a collaboration of area churches and church leaders. We were asked to document the evening, which was made up of live music, selected poetry readings, prayer and communion. Here are a few of our favorite images. Enjoy. 

Awhile back, we had the opportunity to photograph The Crumbs at one of their shows in Ft. Smith Arkansas. A few weeks ago, we were invited back to capture their radio interview and studio performance for the program Ozarks at Large at the KUAF radio station in Fayetteville. This video contains excerpts from their interview as well as a few songs from their studio performance. While on a recent commercial shoot, I was approached by someone working on decorating VIP/dressing rooms rooms for the new Arkansas Music Pavilion (The AMP). I was asked if I would be interested in creating some photographic art to help decorate these rooms and to be honest, I don't even think this person had even finished asking the question before I said yes. 

The AMP has been around for awhile. Prior to it's permanent structure being built in Rogers, a temporary version of the facility was setup in Fayetteville in the back parking lot of a shopping mall. Recently, construction began on the permanent structure and in just a few short days, the venue will hold it's first concert. My idea for the project was to create abstract images of the actual venue. These images would then be printed as gallery wraps or framed art and used to adorn the walls of the VIP rooms for the venue. I spent a few hours one weekday morning and an additional few hours that evening walking the venue, looking for interesting angles, textures, and details that I could capture as art. 

For me, this job is a perfect compliment and balance to an already busy season of work and life. Taking the time to slow down (or in some cases, stop), to look around and notice the beauty in the details is a great way for a creative person to breathe deep in the midst of seasons of life where air might be scarce. The resulting images were well-received by the clients and I thought I'd share a few of them here on the blog. Cheers. 

If I had to pick one word to sum up the year, I don't know what it would be. I suppose you can't pick just one word to sum up anything. They say a picture is worth a thousand words.  And this blog post, with it's "20+" images would mathematically be more words than I would care to list out here. But hopefully, these images in some small way, begin to describe how much fun we've had being creative in 2013 (and quite possibly, late 2012). We're truly thankful for this last year and we're very excited for the next. Onward and Enjoy. 

If you ever get a chance to go see these guys, please do...they're awesome. And no, I'm not biased. When it comes to bluegrass and folk, these three can absolutely whip out old favorites, well-written originals and alternate arrangements of mainstream hits. And although Jeff Scholtes (The guy playing the guitar or mandolin) is an ongoing music client of ours, I can say with confidence that I would still write the same stuff about the trio if I had just "walked in" on their performance. They really are very good and well-worth a listen. They play frequently in Fayetteville, Little Rock and Fort Smith. Here's a few images from a recent performance. Enjoy.

Palmer Lee is one of those young musicians who's actually going somewhere. We were first introduced to her when she hired us to create some promotional images for her . After that, we had the privilege of photographing with her with her singer songwriting partner Chase Coy as Third & Union. Most recently, she combined her unique ability to write great lyrics with her incredible voice released her first EP entitled "Until Now". Palmer celebrated her new release by playing homecoming show here in Rogers where she and her incredibly talented band rocked out to some of their new tunes. Here's a few images from the show. If you've ever read the bio page on our website, you'll know that I'm a huge Mumford & Sons fan. So it was a real treat this past weekend to travel to Guthrie Oklahoma for their Gentlemen of the Road Stopover. The Gentlemen of the Road Stopover is a huge 2 day festival with lots of great music, food and festivities. The idea behind these festivals is to setup in a small, mostly unheard of town, enjoy music from a wide variety of bands and to embrace the local culture. Of course the townspeople get into it as well (most of them, anyway). Despite the intense Oklahoma heat, our time in Guthrie was super fun. Some of my favorite bands were Bears Den, Alabama Shakes and of course, Mumford & Sons who ended the event on Saturday night. Here's a few images from our weekend away. Enjoy.

3rd & Union are one of the most talented duos we've ever heard, let alone had the opportunity to work with. The duo is made up of Palmer Lee & Chase Coy, who met at Belmont University in Nashville. Writing a song together for a wedding led them to embark on a musical journey of writing consistently, performing and most recently, recording and releasing an album. The album made the iTunes "new and noteworthy" page on the day of its release and has received lots of excellent reviews. Over the holidays, they came to Rogers to play show and while they were here, we had the  privilege of hanging out with them for an evening, cameras in tow. Our first stop was a bright yellow building that looked as though it was about to be demolished. (it was gone the day after) From there, we headed out to Monte Ne, an area of Beaver Lake that used to be a town. It's a fascinating place with a lot of history and some great places to shoot. Right before Christmas, 3rd & Union decided to put on a little "hometown" show at the Rogers Little Theater. Just two days prior, we had spent some time creating some promotional images for them and the live show was a great excuse to keep the camera's rolling. It also helps that they're super talented and their music is awesome. Enjoy.

When I first heard Palmer's voice on the recording she was playing in our studio, I was blown away. She is without a doubt, one of the most talented singers I've ever heard. We were fortunate enough to be able to hang out and create some promotional images for her before she journeyed back to Belmont University and Nashville for the semester.
