If you’re a photographer and you’ve had to work indoors in a building designed by Marlon Blackwell Architects, you can pretty much point your camera in any direction and make a good photograph. As you can imagine, the same could be said of photographing in their offices. With a website refresh on the horizon, they invited us to do just that.

For the past couple of years, we have been working with the University of Arkansas’s Center for Farms and Food (CAFF) to document and promote the work they are doing. CAFF was developed to strengthen and expand the area’s food and farming system, enhance local communities, and provide opportunities for farmers, food entrepreneurs and food system leaders. Combining traditional and experiential learning opportunities, their Farm School and Apprenticeship programs teach the production and business skills to develop resilient and sustainable businesses.

We recently had the opportunity to hang out with the fine folks from the Bentonville Water Utilities Department, thanks to a chance meeting with one of the higher-ups at a recent Vanarky in the Ozarks Event. Before long, we had a plan to meet for a day of photography + water utilities education. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again every time it’s relevant; One of the best parts of this job is learning about other people’s line of work. And for a major city’s water utilities department, there’s a lot to experience. And after a full day of photographing different scenarios, tools and departments, we came away with a library of images that clearly and thoroughly showcases many of the water utilities day-to-day responsibilities in visual form. Today on the blog: Recent commercial photography work for Architect, Caitlin Kelley | MArch AIA NCARB. Caitlin is an award-winning architect, specializing in high-end custom residential design and unique commercial projects. Prior to moving to Bentonville Arkansas to work on the Tourmaline Urban Lofts project, Caitlin resided in Southern California where she worked as an architect on residential and commercial projects while also working as an adjunct professor for the NewSchool of Architecture + Design in San Diego, California.

Among her talents and qualifications as an architect, Caitlin also enjoys painting and playing the piano. In fact prior to being an architect, Caitlin worked as a professional musician. We recently had the opportunity to work with Caitlin to create some updated marketing imagery for her new brand design and website (currently in the works by the extremely talented Jacobs and Co.). Today on the blog: A compilation of recent commercial headshots and professional portraits of some of the best people in our little corner of the state. Our headshot and portrait clients range from people featured in magazine articles, to real estate agents, to college professors, food and beverage workers, healthcare professionals, and even (as you’ll see below), professional cyclists. On average, 75 to 80 percent of the people we work with say “I hate having my picture taken.” And that’s ok, because we hate having our pictures taken too. No seriously, we do. But having that connection makes us empathetic towards the people we work with and we try to make the whole process as quick, as painless and as easy going as we can make it.
