Jon & Kayla | Northwest Arkansas Maternity Photography
Say hello to Jon, Kayla and Laurel June Knox. The Knox's are incredibly close friends of myself and my family. They live on our street, they have keys to our house and given the circumstances surrounding the past year of our lives, they have looked after our house, our yard and our dog WAY too many times to count. In just a few short weeks, they will welcome their daughter, Laurel June Knox into the world and for that, we are super excited and very grateful. Here's a few images of our dear friends in this wonderful stage of life. Enjoy!
Dallas & Madison | Northwest Arkansas Engagement Photography
Say hello to Dallas and Madison, a super sweet couple I recently got to hang out with. Although they both live in North Carolina, Madison is an NWA local and since her September wedding is here, she wanted her engagement pictures to be here as well. And unlike some of the recent days we've had, this day turned out to be pleasant with partly cloudy skies and mild, almost humidity-free temperatures. Here's a few of my images from the evening. Happy Monday!
John & Stacy | Northwest Arkansas Engagement Photography
Say hello to John and Stacy. The lady behind them might have been gasping at the day's forecast which called for nonstop, heavy rain. But John and Stacy were undeterred by the forecast and so was I. So I grabbed my rain jacket and they grabbed lots of extra clothes and we drove to where my doppler radar showed lighter rain and gaps in between the storms. The time in the car gave us a chance to get to know each other better and discuss important things like reggae music and who serves the best local coffee. And the weather gave us enough rain to make the whole day an adventure but not so much that creating images was an impossible task. Here's a few of my favorites. Enjoy!
Red Barn Studio Live Sessions | Stephen Neeper & The Wild Hearts
It's been a few weeks since we've had the opportunity to collaborate with Red Barn Studio Live Sessions. But recently, we were able to remedy that and hang out with the usual gang (Murray Williams, Brian Fittin, Michael Drager and Jason Miller). And as usual, we were all treated to an earful of awesomeness thanks to Stephen Neeper & The Wild Hearts. Here's a few behind-the-scenes images along with the final music video. Enjoy!
Brett & Maggie | Northwest Arkansas Wedding Photography
Our sincerest congratulations and well-wishes to Brett & Maggie Albright. I had a wonderful time celebrating with them last weekend and today, I'm excited to share some images from their weekend wedding. Enjoy!
Maggie Mowry | Northwest Arkansas Bridal Portraits
Last weekend's wedding was beautiful and much less rainy than the forecast told us it would be. And now that Brett has seen Maggie in her beautiful wedding dress, it's time for everyone else to see her too. Here's a few of our favorite bridal portraits. Wedding images coming soon :) Enjoy.
Gear Review | A Few Weeks with Apple Watch
Yes, I have an Apple Watch. For those of you who know me, I’m sure you saw this coming. However, I didn’t just jump on the bandwagon because I’m an Apple fanatic. Apple products make up a large part of my work/home life because they integrate with each other so well and they just work. I've been using Apple stuff since college and for me, there was value in owning an Apple Watch, even in the product’s infancy. I bought it knowing that it wouldn’t be perfect, that there would be improvements as time goes on and that the overall usability would take some getting used to. But the fact of the matter is that in spite of its newborn limitations, the Apple Watch is off to a great start and I love it. There’s been quite a few in-depth reviews of the watch thus far so I’m going to keep this one short, sweet and visual. I'll touch on a few reasons why I bought the watch and summarize how it’s integrated into my life thus far. If you have any questions, please feel free to email. Enjoy.
This Week.
**PLEASE NOTE**
Our automatic email responders have been set but we've received a few messages via Facebook and Text message (to which there are no automatic responders) so I wanted to address those here. We are out of town this week for my daughter's surgery and I will be taking a break from responding to most email, voicemail and social media messages and posts. Instead, I will be focusing on attending to my daughter for her surgery and recovery while also taking care of my wife my son.
And to those of you who know about our situation and have responded so warmly, thank you again for all the thoughtful and heartfelt responses of love, prayer, and support. We truly appreciate it.
Red Barn Studio Live Sessions | Brother Moses
Our collaborations with Red Barn Studio, Murdog Creative and 6th & Burnside continue. This week, we had the privilege of hanging out with local indy band, Brother Moses. This was our first full band live session so all had to wear earplugs. Here's some behind-the-scenes images as well as the final video. As always, thanks to Jason Miller for hosting and to Murray Williams for coordinating, directing and producing. Enjoy!
Aaron & Brook | Northwest Arkansas Wedding Photography
It was a great honor to begin the 2015 wedding season by celebrating with and photographing two very good friends as they began their new life together. Aaron and Brook are two of the kindest people you'll ever meet. Their love for each other and the people around them is obvious and inspiring. Their beautiful Spring wedding took place at an amazing new wedding venue in the area called Rockford Grange. What this venue lacks in cell phone reception, it more than makes up for in thoughtful details, beautiful scenery and friendly staff. Besides, it's my personal opinion that people should shut their phones off and just enjoy the celebration anyway :) Here's a few images from the day. Congratulations you two!
On Slowing Down | Northwest Arkansas Small Business Mantra
I was inspired to make this post after reading a recent issue of Kinfolk Magazine. For those of you who are photography or design (or both) nerds, you've probably already heard of this magazine and if not, you should do yourself a favor and check it out. Kinfolk as a publication is focuses on creating content that encourages its readers to embrace a simplified and slow-paced lifestyle. Their latest issue is titled "The Entrepreneurs Issue" and the following quotes are taken from a recent Saturday morning that I spent reading it. The images that follow the quotes are both my interpretation of the quotes from the article and also, ways in which I myself am attempting to practice a more simplified and slow-paced lifestyle. I hope that these quotes inspire you as they have me. Enjoy.
Red Barn Studio Live Sessions | Benjamin Del Shreve
I once again had the opportunity to collaborate with local talent to create a music video for local artist and celebrity, Benjamin Del Shreve. Benjamin (who usually plays with a full band), brought technology (aka a BOSS RC-300 loop station for all you gear nerds out there), choosing to loop several instruments and vocal patterns on top of each other and then, sing along. The result was incredible and we're excited to share it with you. Once again, thanks to Jason Miller at Red Barn Studio for recording, Murray Williams of Murdog Creative for organizing, directing and producing, the video, to Bryan Fittin of 6th & Burnside for being an all-around great personality to spend the evening with and to Benjamin Del Shreve, for rocking our lenses and our faces off. Here's a few behind the scenes images along with the video. Enjoy!
** Note ** Red Barn Studio Live Sessions is a collaborative effort to promote new and existing local music talent. It is also an opportunity for creatives to have a "jam session" of their own and to contribute to a fun project. If you're a musician or group and you are completely awesome at what you do, let us know.
Bike Arkansas | Northwest Arkansas Commercial Photography
It's common knowledge among anyone that knows me well, that the opportunity to photograph anything bike related would be considered a dream job. And a couple weeks ago, I had the opportunity to spend a couple of days doing just that.
Red Barn Studio Live Sessions | Chanika McLelland
I recently had the opportunity to participate in a multi-camera video shoot for music artist Chanika McLelland. We all gathered at Red Barn Studio, setup multiple angles and recorded while Chanika recorded a beautiful rendition of Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide". Owner and producer Jason Miller captured some of the best sounding audio I've heard come out of a local studio and Murray Williams (Murdog Creative) produced an amazing video compiling all of the footage captured. It was a lot of fun working alongside these guys as well as Michael Drager, Bryan Fittin and Murray's son, Wyatt. Here's a few still images captured during the evening as well as a link to the final product. Enjoy!
Brooks & Cassidy | Northwest Arkansas Engagement Photography
Happy Spring! This time of year, the weather can be especially unpredictable. But Brooks and Cassidy managed to pick a wonderful evening to hang out and have fun with their engagement photos. Here's a few favorites from the evening. Enjoy!
Walmart/Pepsico | Northwest Arkansas Commercial Photography
Congratulations to Pepsico for their winning the supplier of the year award and a special thanks to Propac Marketing for allowing us to document the celebratory evening. Here's a few of our favorite images. Enjoy!
AERT | Northwest Arkansas Commercial Photography
We've worked with AERT on a couple of different occasions over the years and we recently had the opportunity to work with them again. AERT is a company that converts reclaimed plastic and wood fiber waste into quality outdoor decking and railing systems, fence systems, and door and window components. Our photography work with them over the years has consisted of visiting homes that feature their products and photographing their products on-location. Our recent work with them however, involved not only on-location photography, but also in-studio product photography which we had a blast with. Here's a few selected images from our recent and not-so-recent work with this innovative company. Enjoy.
5 Year Anniversary | Northwest Arkansas Photography Studio
We’ve been in business for 10 years and today marks 5 of those years being in our studio space. When we moved in, we were simply looking for a little more room to shoot, a place to have an office, a meeting place that wasn't a coffee shop and most of all, a space that was separated from the house. Over the years however, our studio space has become so much more.
Organizing Your Everyday | Northwest Arkansas Video Production
For a few weeks now, we've been working on a super fun project and today, we're excited to share. One of the greatest joys of working with products is that we get to not only tell their benefits and features through a story, but we get think of ways to bring the product itself to life. Such was the case with the Zipper Bag by Cumberland Concepts.
Aaron & Brook | Northwest Arkansas Engagement Photography
Cold weather and snow were in the forecast this weekend. But that didn't stop Aaron and Brook from celebrating their engagement. With coffee, cappuccino and hot chocolate in-hand, we road tripped around and stopped off at some interesting spots along the way. Here's a few images from our evening together. Happy Snow Day!
