6 years ago when I first started this series, Carl Walter was the first person I featured and he will forever be the toughest act to follow. I would try to sum up my experience in talking with him if I could. But you just can’t summarize a 3 hour long conversation filled with humble beginnings and war stories and everything in between, so here’s a link to go back and read it for yourself.

No words I type here will be able to put into proper perspective, the amount of gratitude I have for my clients, my friends, my colleagues and for those of you who stumble onto my site in one way or another and appreciate my work. It never ceases to amaze me the local talent I discover as a working photographer. One of my recent photo shoots for Arkansas Made Magazine led me to Springdale, Arkansas where Shirepost Mint has been making custom fantasy coins since 2001. I had a blast touring their facility, hearing the story of how their business started and how it grew to receive national and worldwide attention. Fayetteville Arkansas knows how to throw a good party. (And not just of the college variety) Case in point, their First Thursday events that happen every first Thursday of the month during the warmer seasons in Arkansas. Their last one for the year was last week and I had the opportunity to attend it and photograph it. They also debuted their new Veoride Bike Share Program, making the city even more bike-friendly (which I didn’t think was possible). Party on, Fayetteville.

Over the course of the last 2 years, I've been working with Visit Rogers to create a library of imagery that they can use to market our beautiful town to the locals and the visitors alike. I recently had the opportunity to tag along on a video shoot and create a few new still images. And of course, that meant sampling some delicious food and drink as well. Based on my "market research", I highly recommend the following: Cooking Studio of Downtown Rogers, Levi's, Bocca, Ozark Beer Company, Iron Horse Coffee Company, and if you like food trucks, City Pump. But please...don't take my word for it, try them yourself!

It's always a pleasure to work with the fine folks at the Fayetteville Public Library. Spending the day watching people and photographing them as they use the library in so many different ways is a great reminder of how blessed we are to have so many great resources and programs in our little region. Even if you are not a resident of Fayetteville, the library is well worth the drive there especially if you have kids. For more information, visit their website. 

I had the privilege of photographing the annual Art of Wine Festival this year. The event is put on by the good folks at the Walton Arts Center and features products from local, regional and national companies and establishments. Here's a few images from the event. Enjoy.

I recently had the opportunity to work with the wonderful staff and incredibly bright students of the Thaden School. Prior to my time there, I had only a vague knowledge of the school, it's history and it's mission. But spending a few hours there was downright impressive. Here's a few images from the afternoon. Last week, I took a few days to detach from work and life. I camped out, slept in the truck, did some fishing (caught nothing), read some books by the river, played my guitar, sat by the fire, explored some scenic roads and made some photographs. By now, you all know that this sort of detachment is a part of my routine so I'll spare you the further dialogue and share some of my images from the week. Enjoy. 

When one of your favorite clients hires you to go hike some pretty trails and take pictures along the way, you turn the assignment into a truck camping trip and take a few days to do it all. Such was the case earlier this year when I hit the road and journeyed from White Rock Mountain, to the Buffalo River Valley and then, onto Black Fork Mountain. Along the way, I slept in the back of my truck, cooked food on my my little Propane stove (minus the morning I splurged on a small town diner breakfast), and took some time to enjoy the scenery.

I recently had the opportunity to hit the road and create a portrait series for the latest issue of Arkansas Wild Magazine. The upcoming issue, entitled Legends & Young Guns, profiles individuals in Arkansas who are extremely active and experienced in areas of outdoor sports and conservation. Today, I'm sharing the portrait series here on the blog. Enjoy!

I'm convinced that you cannot live in Northwest Arkansas and not hear about The Preacher's Son, a fairly new restaurant and bar concept from the brilliant minds of The Ropeswing Group. The atmosphere is beautifully dramatic, yet homey and subtle. And the food...well the food is downright delicious. (You may recall a recent blog post for Food and Farm Magazine recipe for a salad that I couldn't stop eating.) Executive Chef Matt Cooper and his well-trained and good natured kitchen staff use locally sourced ingredients and insane amounts of creativity to create dishes as delicious to eat as they are beautiful to look at. I recently had the opportunity to hang out in the kitchen and create some images for the restaurant and today, I'm sharing a few of my favorites. Enjoy.

Say hello to the the fine craftsman at the company, Assemblage. Nestled in the beautiful hills of Madison County, this small company hand-crafts (in their own words), "bespoke wall coverings" for a wide range of high-end clients. I had the opportunity to hang out at their workspace, an older but renovated rural factory building and photograph them for Arkansas Made Magazine. Here's a few of my favorite images. Enjoy.

The historic downtown areas of Northwest Arkansas are alive with revitalization and growth. And thanks to the wonderful people at Highstreet Development and Stronghold NWA, a rather large building in downtown Rogers is poised to be a huge part of that process. Formerly known as "The Dollar Saver Building, the large structure is in the process of being gutted, cleaned out and outfitted for a number of retail and living spaces. A large portion of the building is slated to be the new home of Onyx Coffee's production and day-to-day operations while also housing a coffee shop. There are also rumors of an upscale restaurant, a bakery, a craft cocktail bar and loft apartments being planned for the structure. I was hired by Highstreet Development to photograph the building in its current state. Enjoy the tour. 

I am very drawn to the culinary world, simply because the process, and the artistic vision behind it is fascinating to me. So it was fun for me to have the opportunity to hang out with and photograph Chef Matt Cooper of The Preacher's Son. Wow, what a nice guy. I thoroughly enjoyed following him around the local farm as he literally picked the ingredients for a delicious salad, the recipe of which is soon to follow in the upcoming issue of Food and Farm Magazine. And when all was said and done, Matt let my try the salad...and I couldn't stop eating it. 

It's a big day for Visit Rogers. After months of hard work, they officially launched their brand new website today. I've been a longtime Rogers resident and I was excited to be a part of the process, creating imagery of life in and around Rogers. Here's a few images from the project. Enjoy!

After a crazy busy wedding and engagement season last summer, I was excited to be back at the Fayetteville Roots Festival this year.
