It never ceases to amaze me the local talent I discover as a working photographer. One of my recent photo shoots for Arkansas Made Magazine led me to Springdale, Arkansas where Shirepost Mint has been making custom fantasy coins since 2001. I had a blast touring their facility, hearing the story of how their business started and how it grew to receive national and worldwide attention. Fayetteville Arkansas knows how to throw a good party. (And not just of the college variety) Case in point, their First Thursday events that happen every first Thursday of the month during the warmer seasons in Arkansas. Their last one for the year was last week and I had the opportunity to attend it and photograph it. It's always a fun adventure creating images for Arkansas Wild Magazine. I am continually challenged as a photographer when working with them and I am grateful for all of the beautiful places in our state that they send me to. If you haven't already, check out their newest issues of Bike Arkansas and Paddle Arkansas. Hooray for the outdoors!

I've been on a shoot for the past couple of days and the property where I've been shooting is incredible. The actual location where was setup and shooting was near some cliffs and in some woods because it was outdoor apparel. But the other parts of the property had more cool junk than I've seen in a good long while. After finishing up, I was given a small tour of the property and snapped a few photos. Enjoy.

Today, I am wishing my dear friends and next-door business neighbors a fond farewell and happy retirement. Trolley Line Bookshop was a local favorite long before I moved in next door. This was largely due to the personable owners, Pat and Myra Moran who never tired of making friends and involving themselves in the community for the better of everyone. Their shop had the cozy and quaint feel of a neighborly downtown business because it was genuine and not manufactured and their presence (as well as their incredible selection of interesting reads) will be sorely missed. Cheers and Best Wishes, you two and thanks for everything.

When one of your favorite clients hires you to go hike some pretty trails and take pictures along the way, you turn the assignment into a truck camping trip and take a few days to do it all. Such was the case earlier this year when I hit the road and journeyed from White Rock Mountain, to the Buffalo River Valley and then, onto Black Fork Mountain. Along the way, I slept in the back of my truck, cooked food on my my little Propane stove (minus the morning I splurged on a small town diner breakfast), and took some time to enjoy the scenery. 

There's not much I could say about the Mooney family that hasn't already been said. From their organization 99 Balloons, to their Atypical Podcast, they are well known and well-respected.  As an outsider looking in, it's easy to see the love that this family has for each other and for the world around them. They are an inspiring bunch and the life they live should challenge us all to see the people around us differently and beautifully.

The upcoming issue, entitled Legends & Young Guns, profiles individuals in Arkansas who are extremely active and experienced in areas of outdoor sports and conservation. Say hello to the the fine craftsman at the company, Assemblage. Nestled in the beautiful hills of Madison County, this small company hand-crafts (in their own words), "bespoke wall coverings" for a wide range of high-end clients. I had the opportunity to hang out at their workspace, an older but renovated rural factory building and photograph them for Arkansas Made Magazine. Here's a few of my favorite images. Enjoy. 

This is my first post in awhile, thanks to busy season. I'm hoping to catch up on the blog as well as update my own website as well. Today though, I'm sharing a few images that I created for Marlon Blackwell's new website. (Site Design by Doxa) Enjoy. 

The historic downtown areas of Northwest Arkansas are alive with revitalization and growth. And thanks to the wonderful people at Highstreet Development and Stronghold NWA, a rather large building in downtown Rogers is poised to be a huge part of that process. Formerly known as "The Dollar Saver Building, the large structure is in the process of being gutted, cleaned out and outfitted for a number of retail and living spaces. A large portion of the building is slated to be the new home of Onyx Coffee's production and day-to-day operations while also housing a coffee shop. There are also rumors of an upscale restaurant, a bakery, a craft cocktail bar and loft apartments being planned for the structure. I was hired by Highstreet Development to photograph the building in its current state. Enjoy the tour. 

I am very drawn to the culinary world, simply because the process, and the artistic vision behind it is fascinating to me. So it was fun for me to have the opportunity to hang out with and photograph Chef Matt Cooper of The Preacher's Son. Wow, what a nice guy. I thoroughly enjoyed following him around the local farm as he literally picked the ingredients for a delicious salad, the recipe of which is soon to follow in the upcoming issue of Food and Farm Magazine. And when all was said and done, Matt let my try the salad...and I couldn't stop eating it. 

I've had the honor and privilege of working with the University of Arkansas Art Department for a few years now. But it was only this week that I learned just how some of the images I've created for them over those past few years have been used...

I recently had the opportunity to work on the new cycling jersey design for FAST Kids. And last night, I was able to meet up with them and grab some photos of them rocking their new jerseys during their weekly ride. Thanks for letting me join in the fun!

Many know Scott Schroen (Shh-rain) as a tall, lanky mountain biking machine. As the General Manager of Phat Tire Bike Shop, it's true that he spends most of his time working in the cycling world. What you may not know about Scott though, is that he loves (and is equally talented at) wood working. And lately, he's been balancing out the stresses of work and life by quietly designing and building high quality wood furniture out of his well-equipped garage/workshop. His most popular product is the Ozark Chair which features the state of Arkansas in the design of the chair, beautifully carved out of wood and perfect for porch or lawn sit'n.
